Many of the recent posts on the blog have been all about the baby. That's no surprise – I am 8 months pregnant, after all.
Today, however, I'm switching things up and giving you a break from all things baby with a very exciting sneak peak of our new deck and pergola – just in time for the summer solstice!
The summer solstice occurs every June 21, when the sun is directly above the Tropic of Cancer. On this day the sun doesn't set until 8:25PM, giving us a remarkable 16 hours and 38 minutes of daylight.
I don't know about you, but I plan to spend every free minute enjoying the outdoors right here on our new deck, refreshing drink in hand.
By the way, Wayfair is currently having a "Best-of Patio Sale" with up to 70% off dozens of outdoor items. So if you're in the market for new outdoor furniture or decor, be sure to check it out ASAP, as it ends July 1. The 4-piece seating arrangement you see in these photos is also currently on sale – at a whopping 53% off!
We do have a few more projects planned for this space, like staining the deck, painting the pergola and planting climbing greenery (possibly grapes or climbing roses). But for now we're so excited to enjoy the space as is.
Remember when this part of the house looked like this? And then like this? Then finally like this? Oh yes, the exterior of the house, much like the inside, has come quite a long way since we first bought our abandoned little bungalow.
But enough talking; let's look at some "AFTER" photos, shall we?
I'll have a full "Shop the Deck" post on the blog later this week, with direct links to everything you see here along with a cost breakdown in case you'd like to recreate the look yourself. So stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, I'd love to know: How do you plan to spend the longest day of the year?
